Spouse & Family: Husband of 32+ years, Rick a farmer, a son, Levi, 31, married and also a farmer and daughter, Carly, 27 who is married and is a real estate agent. Three WONDERFUL grandchildren, Pike Burns Thomas (Oct. 2005) and Beau Swayze Burns (July 2006) and Brooklynn Reese Burns (November 2007).

Hometown: HARLINGEN!

Reason for becoming a Real Estate Professional: Around 1990 my husband told me he thought I could do well selling real estate. He was probably trying to think of a way to cash in on a wife who was always striking up conversations with total strangers.

Hobbies: GRANDCHILDREN! Reading, Baking, Stamping and card-making and piddling around my home and patio.

Civic & Community Involvements: Past President of the Harlingen Board of Realtors, First Baptist Church Finance Committee member, former mentor for the M.O.P.S. (Mother?s of Preschoolers), former Director for the Algodon Club. When my kids were in school I was an active mom and PTA member.

I have been very active with the Harlingen Board of Realtors for several years. In 2002 I served as President and one of my goals was to either remodel or rebuild the office that houses the Board of Realtors. The key to a successful project is to have forward-thinking people on a committee who share the same objective. After well over a year of work, we now have a brand-new 2,000 square foot building which serves the Harlingen area Realtors in a much more efficient fashion than the old, outdated one. Mission accomplished!

Most Interesting Real Estate Experience: One of the most unique experiences I?ve had selling real estate occurred about two years ago when I was showing property to a very youthful 75 year old lady named ?Bobbie?. We pulled up at the very first one, started up the sidewalk and neither one of us saw a step because we were so busy looking at the front of the house. Bobbie was just about half a step in front of me
